I have never had a problem with unpasterised milk but homogenised milk upsets my guts - please let me choose what is best for me.

Consumption of Raw Milk is a basic human right. The Government is walking down a very dangerous road. The people will not stand for their basic rights being take away. Cigerettes and alchohol are used and abused by millions costing tax payers billions in supporting people who suffer from their effect (NHS cost). It is massively hypocritical to target something which actually brings health benefits. Just because Government and Corporation cannot make money from does not give them a right to ban it. Fight for you basic human rights!

the benefits of unpasteurised milk considerably out way the possible drawbacks. I want freedom to be able to choose the type of milk I buy and to support the local small farmers. The FSA regulates raw milk production to ensure the level of bacteria is not unsafe. That is enough.

It's good to mention human rights. It's also good to mention animal rights, so I wished the cows providing the raw milk as well as all other milk will be treated the way thay can live joyfully - and this is very unlikely to be the cheapest option. If you are open to the subject see the International Society for Cow Protection https://www.facebook.com/InternationalSocietyforCowProtectionISCOWP?fref=ts

To whom it may concern, As outlined in this petition and supported by recent findings from the Journal of Food Protection unpasteurised milk is a low risk food. It has distinct characteristics (separate from its unpasteurised namesake) that are important for health and digestion. Pasteurising turns milk from a food into an industrial ingredient. Given the difference between the two one should be free to choose either. If you must search for an unsafe food to ban please start by looking statistically at what food is making the most people ill. It will be a long time before you get around to looking at raw milk. Regards Kees

Raw milk has many health benefits and provides milk in its whole and natural form. It is easy to digests and tastes great. I have been consuming raw milk for over 5 years and have never experienced any adverse effects. It is very safe. Raw milk provides good quality protein, vitamins, enzymes and minerals. I also feel that people should still have the liberty to buy raw milk from a farmer if they choose. This should not be restricted, especially because there have not been any records of illness from its consumption in the last 17 years. Its already tightly regulated and does not need to be restricted. It is a very safe food!

I buy raw milk whenever I can get it, but it's hard to find. I'd like it to be made easier not harder. It is far better for you than pasteurised milk and we deserve to have the choice. Raw milk actually goes sour rather than going off and is fantastic for baking. I grew up on raw milk. My husband didn't, but neither of us have been ill as a result of consuming it on and off over the last decade. Nor have any friends and family who have drunk it whilst in our house.

Raw milk is a necessity not a luxury for thousands of people who cannot tolerate pasteurised milk or who consume raw milk because they have seen tremendous benefits for their health problems, such as eczema, allergies, hay fever, asthma, autoimmune conditions, autism, ADHD, tooth decay, gastrointestinal diseases and more. The FSA's estimate of 3% raw milk drinkers equates to about 1.5 million people. 1.5 million people have been consuming raw milk as a 'staple', i.e. on a daily basis. Yet there have been no reported outbreaks, or even single cases of illness from raw milk for the last 12 years! How does this compare to other foods that can cause illness, such as fresh oysters, deli meats or packaged salads, which have no sales restrictions placed on them? How can anyone justify the notion that raw milk is more risky than other foods, and requires special legislation and restrictions? How fair is it that those people who depend on it for health reasons or personal choice are forced to go to such lengths (ordering it by overnight courier, travelling long distances to a farm etc.) and costs to obtain it?

We should have the right to choose what we are putting into our bodies, especially if the common milk is damaging. We're meant to be in a free country, please let us express that freedom!

Considering that there are so many health threats to our food and drink that are not regulated - partially because of the cut backs now in the services that oversee such, it is ironic that the strictly regulated milk production standards for raw milk are under attack. Given that people can choose to effect their health adversely by drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes, it is ironic that the choice for imbibing 'natural' healthy products is being sought to be regulated.

Sadly none of this surprises me but we still have to act.
