As someone who has is majoring in elective subject courses in college, this gives students less opportunity to try new classes and areas such as the arts or languages.

They need to figure out a way to keep trimesters. The trimesters give students more options and less chance of boredom. This change back to semesters will cause issues with classes for anyone graduating in the next few years. My child can take online schooling to make up for it? Who pays for that, and how do we find schools that have credits to transfer? Keep trimesters for the students. They prefer it!

Truthfully semesters aren't as bad as you all make them out to be. They don't hurt a kid's grades unless the child slacks off in class and that will be the child's fault not anything else's. I took trimesters at GCMS and completely hated them because there's so much more work involved. Now that I've moved back to VA I only take 4 classes a semester including APs, honors, and dual enrollment. I am a junior and could have graduated last year if I wanted to because I have all my credits for an advanced diploma, but I stay for AP classes. Personally semesters are better and students tend to improve very well academically because they don't have to cram a lot of learning in like they do in trimesters.

I graduated already.. but Trimesters were the best thing that happend to that school.. you get to adventure the different classes.. yes only a short period of time.. but these kids will get bored with the same class for 6 months. Trimesters are easier

I think we need to keep trimesters. Not all kids are cut out for college but would prefer trade jobs. It is important that kids have options to help them decide what path they want to take once they graduate. Both of my children went to garden city schools along with their father. Unfortunately, my son chose to switch schools his junior year because GC doesn't participate in the vocational programs through Westland. My son wants to be a mechanic so he applied for school of choice to see if he really enjoyed working on cars. As sad as he was that he will not graduate from GC he is happy with his decision. I think if you take options away from these kids then you could be pushing them into other districts which will cost you money in the end! Keep trimesters and increase your options for trade programs!
