I understand the concern, esp if there's a legacy of use that spans 40 years. However, there is a skyrocketing interest in pickleball and it can only be satisfied within the township using township courts. The four tennis locations in the township are as follows: Wall Park (mixed pickleball and tennis) with 3 courts and lights; Thomas Williams (tennis only) with 4 courts and no lights; Ogontz (tennis only) with 3 courts; and Tookany (tennis only) with 2 courts. There are large numbers of courts (tennis only) under the supervision of the school district that likely are available for use during non-school hours. The pickleball activities operate as an extension of Parks and Rec which limits their activities to township courts. In as much as there are many courts available for use on school district properties - many in new condition - there are ample venues for tennis. However, there are non for pickleball. Have you ever seen the courts at Cedarbrook Middle School, for instance?

I live in Glenside, and I play tennis at TW. Please keep those courts as tennis courts only. They are a wonderful, distraction-free place to play tennis.

Thanks for getting this started. I'm a regular at TW for the past 25+ years. The 4 courts are one of the best things about the neighborhood. Wr not only play on them , we help to maintain them. PLEASE allow all 4 to remain.

As a long time resident of Wyncote, it is very important to me to keep these tennis courts and continue to encourage physical activity both in adults and children who live in the neighborhood! We need our public places where people can spend time outside doing activities!

I live in Wyncote and have been playing tennis every weekend at TW since 1984; all year long. During all of these years, it has been the tennis players that have maintained the courts, put up wind screens, cleared the courts of leaves and debris, lobbied for resurfacing, etc. While there may be times when the courts are not fully used, this is not the case on weekends. The TW tennis courts are a rare treat in that players can show up and get into a pick-up game. This is almost unheard of and one of the great benefits to me for being for being a Cheltenham tax payer. We recognize the current trendy popularity of pickleball but this is likely a passing fad and encourage healthy participation of outdoor activities, but not at the expense of giving up something precious. Permanently giving up any courts at TW would be huge disservice to the players who have used the courts for literally generations and would likely destroy the tennis collegiality we have built over the last 40 years. Kindly consider this in your decision making.
