Having the opportunity to paint a ceiling tile or work on a wall mural as a student in a small school with no formal art program was an incredible experience for me, and for many others. It wasn't until I was an adult that I realized how few programs were offered at our school--programs that are taken for granted in large schools. We were so fortunate to have wonderful teachers with ingenuity, such as "Sir," who came up with terrific ideas to give us meaningful learning experiences that we would not have gotten otherwise because of lack of funding. The art that we created must be preserved. Painting over it sends the message that the tireless efforts of terrific teachers, our work we were (and still are) proud of, the value of art education, and the footprint of the many students who went to our school and have gone on to live their lives with that school as a major foundation for life are not of value. Please show the respect for the teachers and students who did their best with few resources, and let the art display the wonderful history of Mount Stewart Consolidated.

Its a part of the school has been for as long as I can remember, everyone comments on them. Why change this? Beautiful pictures kids are proud of, who wants to look at drab grey walls? The walls are beautiful now.

I did not attend Mt.Stewart but my son did. As a child attending Tracadie going to sports events etc in Mt.Stewart...the murals were the best part of the trip. Always wished they had allowed us to that in Tracadie.

The murals add a lot of character to the school. I did not attend Mt. Stewart consolidated, but have a lot of friends who did, and I love looking back at those murals.

I think its time that we pay more attention to our kids education then trying to remove something that's been in our community for decades and is a part of our history.my Kids got to see what I put on the wall and tile and hopefully there kids will be able to see what they put there.so to whoever is trying to remove this artwork start focusing on educating our kids.

Isnt the whole point of these murals so students can leave a mark of themselves as a part of history. I always thought it was cool to walk into a school and kook through the names of people who were there before me. Freshen them up maybe, but dont remove them!

I think the murals should stay where they are, the students look forward to that when they hit Grade 8, why would you want to take a great tradition and stop it.....
