In addition to negatively impacting the natural feeling and comfort of walking on the trails, paving these trails would unnecessarily increase runoff from the trail to the surrounding land. This is not desirable, especially on the steep grades adjacent to center trail.

I chaired the Holliston Trails Committee and oversaw the acquisition, design, and permitting of the Trail. I am so glad that we decided to go with a stone dust surface. Contrary to the opinion of the civil engineers who promote paved trails, they do not require more maintenance. When you maintain a tree canopy, there is actually less maintenance since the tree roots do not affect the air-permeable surface. I have heard directly that the Milford DPW wishes that they had not paved the trail due to the now prevalent tree roots that are a constant battle. Walkers and runners, and young and old prefer the stone dust surface in Holliston.

The pleasure in walking the trails is to enjoy the natural beauty. If one's preference is paved, there is the Chas River and probably others (including sidewalks). Please do not pave them.

Not only are unpaved trails easier on knees but they are most cost effective. Build more trails; don't pave.

I enjoy unpaved trails walking, biking, snowshoeing. It keeps the sense of outdoors that is lost when a trail is paved. Good examples are paved in Milford that becomes unpaved at the Holliston line. It is also easier on the joints.

I am in support of this effort to keep the trails soft. But please ensure that they are graded and groomed to be ADA compliant.

Packed stone is a lot easier on the knees when running and costs less to build and maintain. I am all for them.

I'm shocked it has even come up as a question. RIDICULOUS!!! Anyone who wants to walk on paved roads, you've got the whole town/world to do it in. Don't spoil the little bit of natural setting we have left!!!
Beautiful trail. Love it!
Please keep the trail with pebble rocks.
