KEEP THE TOWN OF ZIONSVILLE, INDIANA
FREE OF BIG BOX STORES
To:The Zionsville Board of Zoning Appeals, Redevelopment Commission and Town Council
From:Concerned Citizens, Friends, and Merchants of Zionsville
We urge the decision makers in Zionsville to honor the ordinances put in place just a few years ago to limit the size of any single commercial business to 60,000 square feet. Specifically, the ordinance states that: "No single use, whether free-standing or contained in an Integrated Center, shall exceed sixty thousand (60,000) square feet of Gross Floor Area." and "No Integrated Center shall exceed one hundred twenty-five thousand (125,000) square feet of total Gross Floor Area." We ask that these decision makers vote against Walmart or any other "big box" stores from receiving a variance to this ordinance.
Why is this important? Walmart and other big box additions to Zionsville will adversely impact traffic, will have a negative impact on our small local businesses, and will provide NO real tax revenue or benefit to our schools, police, fire or other government services. This ordinance was put in place recently and for good reason - let's urge our decision makers to uphold that decision.
