This can not be done. We have to save all of our history. Too many people are blindsided by current events to see what history means. . History has to be viewed not in present viewpoints but rather in the context of the time history presented itself at the time of history was created

From a descendant of Missouri German-American abolitionists: If one knows the history (and the personal history of the particular man rising to freedom) behind this memorial and can contextualize it, it's not a hard call to leave it standing.

This statue is an important commemoration of the freeing of the slaves. Keep it, and place a plaque with it’s history on a pedestal in front of it to give it context.
