My husband teaches Strength training at the high school and the 9/10 building. He has had the immense pleasure of watching students develop a joy of working out, lifting, cardio and also kick boxing! These activities are relieving stress, improving their fitness and developing skills that they will carry.on throughout their entire lives. He has a group of students that come AFTER SCHOOL, that Do Not participate in sports at the High School, but come in to train again. The group of students has grown and he's teaching kick boxing and self-defense... All of which he is fully trained to do... he is a certified second degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, black belt in Tang So Do, and a partner in my Tae Kwon Do school, where we have 50 students. He has trained the Philadelphia Flyers, trained professional track athletes preparing for the Olympics in 1996, and he's been a Strength Coach for almost two Decades. The physical education.teachers have sometimes 40 kids in a class, limited equipment, but still, with limited resources, have made physical education fun for all. For most students, the activity they get in school, is the ONLY activity they get during the day. Take that away, or limit access to these facilities and amazing teachers... what will happen to their academics?? There will be NO OUTLET for the stress teenagers have in their everyday lives. There will be developing healthy skills to take them into adulthood... We have tremendous, qualified, knowledgeable teachers. Our students are fortunate to have them. It's not just about the athletes at the school... its about the ENTIRE STUDENT BODY. Strength and Conditioning is for EVERYONE. Its amazing what is accomplished in our school with such LIMITED RESOURCES. The credits should stay the same, the Physical Education department should be supported because it's what is best for ALL STUDENTS. Ask ANY OF THEM...they will tell you the same.

My son took this class originally due to sports participation.
I have never seen him so interested and excited about his health, his eating habits, etc. *Not only has it given him more strength but has helped or corrected life long dexterity and agility issues. *His self esteem and confidence have hit the roof as he continues to look for ways outside of school to use this new knowledge. At 6'3" he has also gone from about 160 lbs as a freshman to 185 in his sophomore year turning over his little body fat/excess weight to muscle mass, strength and a toned fit body.

This program has given my son something he could never learn from a book. He has gained confidence in himself and learned how to work as a team with others of all color. In that room the help each other to do what they have to do to become stronger mentally and physically as part of a team.

Mr. Eberly and Mr. Veitri helped me get to where I am today as a man, athlete, and with my Heath. The strength training program at Coatesville I believe is vital to the student success in adult hood. Everyday, or everytime you step in the weight room you learn something new that will help you for the rest of your life. The strength training program teaches students how to be successful in a gym and teaches workout that will help for a life time. Not only does it teach physical strengths but mental strengths as well. Going into the gym is a mental thing as well and multiple students and I became mentally tough pushing ourselves in the gym. The world is over 30 percent obese and over 60 percent overweight. This strength training class teaches ways to keep yourself in good shape into late adulthood. I believe the class is vital and should remain active at the Coatesville Area Senior High and 9/10 buildings.

That is one of the dumbest ideas I have ever heard, yea let's make two new weight rooms for our athletes and students and get rid of the strength training program
