keep the program... I graduated from Coatesville and ever since I started taking the class I excelled in any sport that I played at the high school. The kids at the school need this program.

This program is vital to students who wish to establish healthy habits, lose weight, move on to college level athletics, and more. Other facilities are available outside of school but at a price most students cannot afford which is often enough to deter them from signing up for a gym. Even students that have jobs and can afford a membership will have trouble finding time to attend the gym between school, work, and family. Moreover, at any public gym one must organize his/her own workout and motivate themselves to complete it. The instructors of the weight lifting classes do an excellent job of creating a workout plan for the students and giving them the motivation to complete the workout. For these reasons, and more, it is imperative that the required amount of physical fitness credits remain the same and the number of staff is not decreased.

My husband teaches Strength training at the high school and the 9/10 building. He has had the immense pleasure of watching students develop a joy of working out, lifting, cardio and also kick boxing! These activities are relieving stress, improving their fitness and developing skills that they will carry.on throughout their entire lives. He has a group of students that come AFTER SCHOOL, that Do Not participate in sports at the High School, but come in to train again. The group of students has grown and he's teaching kick boxing and self-defense... All of which he is fully trained to do... he is a certified second degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, black belt in Tang So Do, and a partner in my Tae Kwon Do school, where we have 50 students. He has trained the Philadelphia Flyers, trained professional track athletes preparing for the Olympics in 1996, and he's been a Strength Coach for almost two Decades. The physical education.teachers have sometimes 40 kids in a class, limited equipment, but still, with limited resources, have made physical education fun for all. For most students, the activity they get in school, is the ONLY activity they get during the day. Take that away, or limit access to these facilities and amazing teachers... what will happen to their academics?? There will be NO OUTLET for the stress teenagers have in their everyday lives. There will be developing healthy skills to take them into adulthood... We have tremendous, qualified, knowledgeable teachers. Our students are fortunate to have them. It's not just about the athletes at the school... its about the ENTIRE STUDENT BODY. Strength and Conditioning is for EVERYONE. Its amazing what is accomplished in our school with such LIMITED RESOURCES. The credits should stay the same, the Physical Education department should be supported because it's what is best for ALL STUDENTS. Ask ANY OF THEM...they will tell you the same.
