This tradition has been in my family since before I was born 34 years ago. Blowing up the beach is 5 minutes long if that, and includes the Patriotic flag which I personally feel, should ESPECIALLY be done this year to show our community is just as concerned about everything else going on in our country as other communities!

It's been a tradition we can't stop without notice like that. Maybe next year not this time.

Good morning,
My wife and I love the Bay View area. We also have a slip in the marina and spend much of our family time in the South Shore harbor. Festivals and community activities such as this one are part the value of this neighborhood.
Removing and altering community activities is a slippery slope and many parts of the city are dealing with the loss of community which results from tampering with time tested methods of getting families out of their homes and into the public spaces.
My son is now 2 and my daughter is 1. I want them to have the same experiences growing up that I had.
Please don't alter or take steps to limit the activities in the Bay View community. Everyone involved will regret those type of decisions when looking back a few years from now.
Regards,
Don Griep

The South Shore Water Frolics historically are known for 2 things...the first is the one of a kind "Blowing Up The Beach" finishing off the Friday and Saturday festivities... the second was the parade, and this is the second year in a row without that. If you take away the fireworks and the very anticipated "Blow Up The Beach"...I am afraid the Bay View Lions Club will sadly no longer have a Frolics to plan, and a community will sadly loose a historic festival.
