The licensing committee has officially rescinded the restrictive conditions placed upon the Portobello Inn. Char and Steve will continue to manage the pub as a welcoming space for our local families. Thank you for maintaining your commitment to this institution.

Final supporters
As most of you know the Portobello Inn has not been trading for the past few days due to an incident that happened involving the kebab van that parks in the bus stop outside the pub.
The powers that be have now decided that the pub can re-open but have placed some restrictive conditions on the license.
The two major conditions are that there can be no children in the pub after 8:00pm and that when the pub is actually trading that either Char or Steve have to be in the pub at all times. Not upstairs or around the corner, actually in the pub!!
The Portobello is a family orientated pub. The events that they organise are demonstration to this.........Christmas, Easter, fireworks night, kids birthdays but to name a few. The pub also raises money for charity on regular basis.
For some reason, Kent Police and the council seem to think that this is a troublesome pub although they obviously can't prove this as there is no evidence to suggest it. And we all know that it isn't!! In the 4 years I have been drinking at the pub my kids have loved going there and are always made to feel welcome by Char, Steve and the staff. We need to fight to keep this pub as the family pub that it always has been since they took over.
I for one do not want to see this pub go out of the hands of Char and Steve.
Get behind us and sign the petition. Lets stand up to what the authorities are trying to do to our family village pub.

Char and Steve are the heart of the pub. How does the council expect them to run a business with these demands? Nonsense.
What does a kebab van have to do with the pub license. Absolute joke.
THEY HAVE DONE SO MUCH FOR CHARITY!! Why go after a pub that actually contributes to the community? Leave our local alone.
Used to go here all the time. Proper family place. Dont ruin it.
Ridiculous rules. Char and Steve run a proper local and everyone knows it. Stop punishing the good ones.

This is my local and I have never felt safer. My kids love the place and the events are always brilliant. Leave them alone!
