The name is well established and there is no need to change it. NHS Orkney should rather put some effort in sorting other issues out than wasting time on finding a new name.

A friend tells me that the Balfour Hospital was named after Balfour of Trenabie who was instrumental in setting up a trust fund to establish the first hospital in Orkney in what is now the West End Hotel. That's a good reason not to change, I think.

The Balfour has a long and proud history in Orkney, and is a name that conjures excellence. I also have a personal link to it, thanks to my father's association with the Balfour as its surgeon, from 1963-78. So, in my view the name should stay.

Why change the name? There will be plenty of teething problems in the beginning without a name change being thrown into the mix!!!!!!

Surely it make sense to keep the same name imagine the added confusion when going to Aberdeen or phoning nhs 24 on top off that the added expense of changing the name surely the money it better spent on equipment and patients
Keep the name as everyone knows it's called that
Balfour Hospital
keep Balfour for sure..
