As long as I can remember piers have been about fishing. Even Southend pier allowed fishing despite running boats from the pier head. Allowances can be made.

Its part of tradition and a safe place for old and young to fish, it also brings money in when normal people are tucked up indoors. Make allowance for the fishermen.

My cousin, Rory Poolman had the speed boats on all the south east piers and he frequently won the fishing competitions - perhaps the person who has bought the pier would like to keep up the tradition and donate a trophy with his name on it - that would suit his overinflated ego surely.
