Wonderful childhood memories fishing here. What a shame to deprive so many others such special moments.

I visit Eastbourne every year and the fishermen there are hardly taking any room at all as there is only a very small platform to actually fish....Maybe invest in the pier as the revenue you would make from a small charge to fish

Fishing is an Escapism... Let the pier be an escape from someone's strife!!!

This cannot happen, 150-odd years of history could be brought to an end.

I spent most of my childhood fishing on Eastbourne Pier whenever I could. My parents knew I was safe & could leave me there without worrying about my safety. I continued to fish from the pier until my early 20's & had some of my (& the piers) best & biggest catches from there. It's not only tradition for people to fish from Eastbourne pier, It is tradition for every pier in the country to allow people to fish from them. It angers me to think our council will allow someone who isn't even from this country to wave his wad of money under their noses & put a stop to British tradition!

Please let anglers use the pier as they have been able to do so for many years

Fishing the coast is an historic part of English heritage, protected in the Magna Carta. All good fishermen are happy to be subject to rules, but not a ban.

This is an outrage 150 yrs of tradition just cancelled out because of a new owner the council should step in asap

Fishing is not only great activity lots of pier visitors enjoy but source of income, tradition and reason fmilies visit Pier or Eastbourne alone despite the weather. Fisihng season last well over summer months and brings older visitors to the Pier even half term pick is finished. Over years anglers cotributed to the maintance of the Pier and they are part of the Pier athmosphere and tourist attraction themselfes

Please keep it open. Safe for children and future children. Anglers in general are nice people.

Healthy and inclusive for all ages and for less able bodied people. Why would you not want this to continue and thrive?
