My family is Native to Nashville going back to the 1830's. My grandmother was born in East Nashvlle, and my grandfather was a lifomg railroader who loved his work with a passion. The train whistles ARE nostalgic, that's for sure, but they are also for safety purposes. One point five million could be spent developing affordable housing instead...

Why would anybody risk the safety of themselves and others for a touch less noise? If you don't like the train horn, don't live near the tracks.

Stop the madness! Train horns are a necessity. The horns help provide safety to people and animals in the area. Ridding the horns is a detriment to the neighborhood!

Ever since East Nashville has been in existence there have been train horns. Just because You bought a house in East Nashville does Not give you the right to stop the train whistle. I'm sure you saw the tracks before you purchased your property and it's proximity to your home. DUH!! Because homes are being built in every conceivable square inch of East Nashville and you want to be here, it doesn't give you the right to change the neighborhood. Nashville is a friendly, welcoming town, but don't come in here trying to change it into what you want it to be. YOU ARE THE TRANSPLANT; NOT THE TRAIN. DEAL WITH IT!!!!!

My grandfather worked for the Great Northern Railway and my father worked for BNSF. We grew up next to the tracks and I have always loved the sound of long-long-short-long. Don't let yuppies take away the safety and character of our neighborhoods.

I'm from a long line of railroaders and horns were one of several safety mechanism that keep them alive and on the job for 30+ years of there career. Not to mention all the individuals who were near the tracks and were given a warning of the impending danger barreling their way. Please don't legislate quite zones in my neighborhood to increase property value. Dollars at the expensive of lives is criminal.

I've lived here for forty years and I love the sound of the train horns even in the middle of the night. If you don't like trains then don't buy a house close to the tracks.
Keep the horns blowing!
