The Master Declaration and Development Agreement for East Beach set forth in 2004, a defined vision for open space, including “walking paths, beach pavilions, and a series of bayfront parks, (to) provide a variety of places for families to gather, play, and relax.”
For those who attend the Saturday morning Farmers Market during the spring and summer months, you understand what value this open green space called the “Triangle Lot”, located at the intersection of Shore Drive and East Ocean View Avenue, brings to our Ocean View community. Imagine how the preservation and thoughtful development of this space could benefit and support additional civic activities and recreation in Ocean View, while fulfilling the original vision.
The East Beach developer, East Beach Development Corporation, has submitted plans to place additional high-density residential homes on this one remaining open space in East Beach. The Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority (NRHA) controls the deed to this property and could stop this development if our voices are heard. If the NRHA allows this plan to proceed, it will lock up the use of this common space by placing added stress on already challenged city services, infrastructure, and local parking demands. In addition, activities like the Saturday Farmers Market will be displaced.
By signing this petition, you can let the NRHA know how you feel about the need to have this original vision fulfilled and maintained as open space for families to gather, play, and relax.

Please keep triangle lot as green space! The farmers market is an incredible community building event that brings so much joy to the neighborhood both for residents and tourists. There are so many other vacant lots that could be used to build the proposed townhomes!
Please leave plans as originally designed-Need more Green Space for our planet! Open Farmers Market has provided Ocean View with local and State fresh foods for our health! "Keeping it Local" Bunny May-local since 2001
A green space buffer along the main thoroughfare (Shore Drive) is aesthetically pleasing, ecologically sound, will serve as a sound buffer for the East Beach neighborhood, and is in line with the original master plan for the community.
There is very little green space set aside in East Beach and in Ocean View. High rise buildings have been unfortunately approved along the waterfront, so no one except owners have access. This is the only green space left. Please save this green space for future generations.
East Ocean View is over developed and we have already don’t have enough parking - with the new restaurant going in down there - it’s going to be way to congested if the triangle is developed, keep it for the farmers market and public use

East Beach is already over developed with too few facilities to support such a densely packed area. Green spaces are essential and financial gain cannot always be more important than the well-being of the residents.
