Hello to all of our Dive friends and fellow small business owners. It's so unfortunate that it takes one squeaky wheel to get all the attention of the town.
We were invited to come to the Weirs and have a land accessible restaurant. We had to jump through many hoops and get all of the appropriate licenses and other approvals from several layers within the town of Laconia. They were wonderful and extremely supportive of The Dive at every meeting. Many of the senior level officials have even been onboard with us, enjoying the view and experience that we bring to the area.
Sadly, one person has ruined it for all. This person calls the police and complains about noise daily - and anyone that has been onboard knows we have ambient music that is not played loudly. The police know we are well within the noise levels - so they don't even come out to us in person any longer, but let us know by phone about the complaint as they are required. There are plenty of other loud venues with live music that are louder than we are. The person also says we are polluting the lake - which we would never do. Complaint after false complaint. They have even stopped the gas line from getting to 3 other businesses on the Weirs Boulevard - and said they will only let them use the gas line if they shut down the Dive. This person is a Florida resident - not a local. It's all about their "view" - but we were put in a place that the Pier owns and is well within the boundaries of their commercial zone. It's not even part of their "view".
We have done everything above and beyond what the town has asked from us to do. Now claims of not enough parking to support our restaurant and other frivolous statements are floating abound.
Please help us by signing this petition in favor of The Dive at the pier. We have met so many amazing people onboard that support us and truly think we are a welcome addition to the Weirs - please help us show Laconia how many supporters we have on our side. Thank you!!

We are approaching 2,500 signatures which serves as the threshold required for our upcoming meeting with the Laconia planning department. I am submitting our formal evidence of compliance and community support to officials once we hit this target. I/we live across the water from the Weirs. I do t hear any loud music coming from The Dive, but we do hear the loud music coming from Tower Hill Tavern &. The Big House... but we love the music!!! It’s the sounds of summer at the lake!!
I've met the owner a couple of times, he was explaining the construction of the establishment to exceed the specs of requirement. He struck me as a responsible business owner and wouldn't accept any shenanigans or intoxicated persons to ruin what he built.
I’ve been spending time near the Weirs for over 45 years. The area has gone through cycles of activity & changes in offerings. It has so much potential & just needs people to invest in it. Perhaps the Dive is one such option to keep the place alive.
I have to believe that all the shops/food places that people have to pass to get to the Dive, stop and support them too. I want even aware of most of the little food places! Every time I pass them, I see a lot of foot traffic that comes from the Dive.
I have been on board and the music has NEVER been loud! We are all able to talk without shouting. As far as I have seen, the Dive had done nothing wrong and are respectful. There are other establishments with music much, much louder.
Last I heard, we’re still a democracy of majority rule... one person should not over rule the populace, assuming all rules and regulations are being met..!!!
Isn't there some kind of ordinance for falsely reporting a crime?

I have been impressed with how responsibly The Dive owners designed this venue, manage the waste, work with local regulatory authorities and continue to create a safe and enjoyable environment to meet friends off the Winnipesaukee Pier.
