Please help stop the racism against the Italian American people. There is not another date in history that had as large of impact as Oct 12, 1492. Irish immigrants came to North America because of Columbus's voyage. Please read true historical accounts of Columbus before you remove the statue.

Politicians should not be removing monuments dedicated to those who fought, bled and helped build this city and country. Shame on you for allowing Marxist lies to drive public policy. These acts are divisive and anti-Italian.

It is our history! Stop giving in to those just because the yell and scream. Those people never even go downtown just did it to stir up more trouble. Stop being a wimp and stand up for the people who actually put you in office!

I'm a proud first generation Syracusan of Polish, Russian, German and recently discovered Irish descent. The statue of Christopher Columbus has long been a symbol of what Syracuse and for that matter America is! A Melting Pot of many nationalities no matter what color, country, continent or creed you are or from! We are open to all groups who come here. We all had to go through discriminations and all the ugliness that goes with that! We also learned that each of us had to give up most of our heritage from the old country or we would not "fit in"!! It also is a reminder of who first settled Syracuse and that unless we blend together we can never truly be one. So let's stop all this fighting and bickering and get back to blending together... It's what makes Us/Syracuse/America stronger!!!

To Ben Walsh KEEP the Columbus Monument in downtown Syracuse. It would be a total crime and travesty to remove it. DO NOT REMOVE the statue. You will be highly insulting the fine people of your City to take it down. DON'T. Shane G

There have been a lot of lies and mis-information about Columbus. Even some reputable sources. Who failed to look at original sources, have been taken in by the attempts to malign this explorer. Please do not insult the millions of Italian Americans by taking this anti-Italian American action.

Don't be foolish by following the communist agenda to rewrite history in order to bring down the USA.
