How could you do this? The Catholic Church is very rich. How could you lay off teachers at this time of Civid ? These people need their jobs. Where is the compassion?

My grandchildren attend the school. I have been there and seen schoolwork displayed that is very high quality material for every grade. I am a retired Catholic school teacher so I know what to look for. I was very impressed with the teachers and how much they have been doing. The students I have seen and spoken to exhibit the best that quality Catholic education can provide. What a terrible thing it would be if this school is closed! I know what it is to lose a teaching job. I lost mine because of low enrollment for the upcoming year. But I was told a full year in advance. And I was told that they would help me find a job in another school, which they did. I can't believe that the entire faculty will lose their jobs especially since we are in a Pandemic. There has to be a better way. I never heard of a parish school not notifying the entire parish at least 2 years ahead of time that there were financial problems. The parish community could help find "Angels" to contribute. There are probably many other ways to solve the situation. What options have been suggested? My biggest concern is for all the people who will be losing out - the Faculty and young students who are so worried about the closing. I bet they are probably not sleeping and eating. Who will help them? If this school closes, this doesn't bode well for the entire parish's future. I have seen this in Pennsylvania. When the school closes, the parish is closed soon after. Is that what you want? We live in a country in which the family unit is trying to be destroyed. You can't let your Parish Family School be closed / destroyed.
Surely a plan can be worked out for 1 More Year. You owe it to your Parish Family to save your school for 1 More Year.
Make that your Motto: 1 More Year!

My children went there- what a shame to close! I truly believe it made my children kind hearted young adults who grew up knowing there was always accountability- higher morals

Your Eminence Joseph Cardinal Tobin,
Please reconsider the closing of this most needed Catholic School. Without a strong Catholic education the future of our children is at risk!
Thank you and God bless you,
Louise Biunno

Catholic schools are a necessary part of education. It is extremely upsetting to hear of the closing of OLP and others within the Newark Diocese. It is necessary that you reconsider this decision.

I have been through this before and it is not easy. We had to go through losing friends and choosing new schools. It is very difficult. Please don't close our school. Even though I only have been here for 3 years (this is my third) I love this school a lot. If they close this school we are going to miss our friends and mostly our teachers. They are going to lose their jobs and I don't want that to happen.

I am a former parent of OLP. This is by far an incredible learning facility with faculty who care so much for each and every one of their students.

How do we nurture faith in our young children ? Through family and church which includes Catholic schooling.

The local public schools are already too crowded, The Academy is an option for parents who want more individualized and religious teaching for their kids.
