Keep The Academy of Our Lady of Peace, New Providence Open

AOLP!!!

This is affecting so many people, so many families and the community! Please please reconsider. There must be another solution.

Hard to believe there is no other solution!!! Just closure...unacceptable!

I believe The Academy of Our Lady of Peace was not given a fair chance. Everyone is struggling but to shut down a school during a pandemic, teachers appreciation week and mental health awareness month without trying to reach out to the parents or the community is very unprofessional, unempathetic, and concerning if not the least. Support the schools & support the children! Please reconsider and keep the Academy of Our Lady of Peace open. After all the children and their families and the community have supported the Archdiocese for many many years. This decision goes against the RCAN's mission statement, and their promise to protect our children, first, foremost, and always. I'm reposting a little reminder of the mission statement stated on RCAN's website...please remember your promise to the faithful families who have supported you all this time. ------- Protection of the Faithful Mission Statement The Department of Protection of the Faithful's Office of Child and Youth Protection shares in the mission of the Archdiocese of Newark to be a living sign of Jesus Christ’s presence by assisting our youth in building a relationship with God by providing a safe environment. Toward this goal, the Office will implement and ensure compliance with the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People. The Office also shares in the Archdiocesan mission of coming to offer God’s merciful and loving providence to all. We are called to search out the needs, not only of the Catholic community, but of the total community; and then to respond accordingly with open mind and generous heart. Toward this second mission, the Office will provide outreach to victims/survivors and their families and demonstrate a sincere commitment to their spiritual and emotional well-being.

Give people a chance to fund raise

A great school. Keep it open.

Please reconsider closing this school especially at this time. The students need stability and the faculty deserve it as well especially now when the nation is in crisis. Thank you!

The decision is too sudden. The families of students do not have enough time to look for a new school.

Please reconsider. Catholic education is vital for our children and the future of our church. I feel that the church has an obligation to keep these schools open.

AOLP I was an excellent school for our son. Closing. Blue Ribbon school is a terrible mistake.

Pleases reconsider this decision. During a time of world crisis, we all need to have faith. This news crushed it. I was educated in a catholic school my entire life and this is not the compassion I was taught growing up. She. We need our faith to get it through, it is severely shaken.

I am beyond saddened by this news, and I implore the Archdiocese to reverse this decision. Myself, my four siblings, and my niece all attended AOLP, and I believe we are all better people because of it. As a middle school teacher in the public school system, I can honestly say that the education available in Catholic schools is a very valuable resource that I believe the Catholic Church is far too willing to throw away. The academic rigor of Catholic schools is at least comparable, and in many cases, superior to that offered by public schools. And when you factor in the values and principles instilled in our children in Catholic schools, there is no contest. AOLP should be celebrated, not shut down.

OLP school is a vital part of our community. A catholic education is so important to many families.

Please reconsider the closing of this school!! Now more than ever we need God in our schools!!

Please give it another chance, I’m praying for a good turnout. God bless you.

Please reconsider and investigate what can be done to keep the school open. Especially now, the staff and students need their school and their faith community. I grew up with a catholic school education and it is an important part of who I am today. I could not imagine losing that while also grieving the loss of life as we knew it before COVID.

I hope you will reconsider and keep the school open. In these times even though enrollment many be low our children now more then ever need the Catholic education. Allow the parents a year to collaborate with you to come up with creative ways to raise the funds to keep the school going. My son goes to a Catholic school. I fear the morality of what is being taught in the public schools today. As these schools continue to close distance may prevent families from going to other Catholic schools. Please reconsider as our children’s Catholic education should be a number one priority. These children are the future of our church!

Such sad news. This was like a second home for my daughters. They loved going to school there. It’s sad that future generations will not know what an amazing experience that is the AOLP.
