Let the 5th Graders stay where they are. Keep the school all together. Children don't deserve to be messed about. Let them have their education all under the same roof.

Kids are being forced to grow up too fast as it is and so much more is expected of them academicly,it makes no sense to move them into a more hostile environment.Moving them would be a huge mistake,not only for the children but tax payers when the "board" calls for more money to renavate the school to accomodate the influx of students!Its a loose/loose situation!

Placing the children in a building thats NOT eqipped to deal with the population is ridiculous as it is so when considering the move would be ctostrophic for our youths development its clear to see the boards merely interested in polotics and monetary gain,NOT our children!KEEP the system as it is!

Our children deserve the RIGHT to grow naturally and the education proccess is hard enough as it is!They should NOT be forced to compete at a level that is proven counter productive!Keep them in an environment were they can grow and achieve their goals in a "normal"environment!

Pupil Random Drug and Alcohol Testing
It is the responsibility of the Board of Education and Halsted Middle School to safeguard the health, character, citizenship, and personality development of the pupils. We, therefore, must maintain that the use of drugs and the unlawful possession and use of alcohol is wrong and harmful. The Board recognizes that the misuse of drugs, alcohol or steroids threatens the positive development of pupils and the welfare of the entire school community. The Board of Education is committed to the prevention of drug, alcohol and steroid abuse and the rehabilitation of identified abusers.
To this end, all pupils who are enrolled in grades 6-8 are eligible to participate in the Voluntary Random Drug and Alcohol Testing Program with parental consent and will be eligible for the Halsted Middle School random drug and alcohol testing pool.
The middle school is not the appropriate place for 5th graders, developmentally or educationally.

Pls. consider moving pre-school to PSS...our kids need the playground and science lab!
Bottom line, my son is not ready for the move. We may consider catholic school if this proposition is voted in for the 2014-2015 school year.
