Taking Ms.Talley away from Darnell in the middle of the year and placing her in a different school benefits no parties whatsoever. Darnell will suffer without her guidance, which has kept this school‘s reputation so high and prestigious for many, many years. Both Darnell and Northwestern will suffer from the unexpected and unreasonable change of administration. Ms.Talley belongs in Darnell. I hope the school board hears our roar! This is unacceptable. It is important they hear and listen to the voices of the students and parents of Darnell Cookman. I have a child in middle and high. We do NOT want to see her go. There have been many decisions across the county that have upset me this year.

It was thanks to Ms.Talley that we are all here in this point of time and able to still be here at Darnell Cookman. Without her at this school we will lose the most important key figure to what darnell makes darnell. She stablizes the environment every single day and upholds the position of being a leader and a caregiver.

Students and staff alike have benefited greatly from Ms. Talley’s leadership at Darnell Cookman. Relationship building between admin and students/parents/community/fellow staff members takes time and care that can be difficult to come by- Talley has made it a priority, and it shows. The fact that students, parents, and staff members have reached out to me, a former DC teacher, to express how integral Ms. Talley is to the school, and a great concern over the possibility of losing her speaks volumes.

This is my first year at Darnell. I’ve been to about 7 different schools and this is the first school I’ve ever been to that I felt welcome right away. And that is because of Ms. Talley. She’s allowed Darnell to come together as a family and to get everyone on track. It just wouldn’t be right to move her, especially in the middle of the year when she’s helping juniors and seniors out with their transition to college.

Taking Talley away will be the worst thing DCPS could do. She has impacted me in so many ways. I’ve cried to her. She was one of the few that I would go running to when I’m going through something. Talley would stop what she’s doing to help students. When I’m home on school breaks, I go straight to DC to see & check on her. I still call & text her till this day as a sophomore in college to keep her updated. Always have to keep her proud. She loves Darnell Cookman. Don’t do that to her please
