As residents of Southern Trails, we would like to respectfully petition Alvin ISD to work with us to find suitable solutions that will allow our neighborhood to remain zoned to schools within Shadow Creek Ranch for the following reasons:

1. Geographic Location: Southern Trails is in Pearland. Our residents identify with Pearland and we want out children to grow in that identity from elementary, through middle school, and ultimately to the new high school in Pearland - in our backyard. There is no reason for our families to commute south to schools in Manvel when there are Alvin ISD schools in Pearland. This factor alone was the a major reason that I and many of my neighbors strongly supported the 2013 bond election. Because Southern Trails and Shadow Creek Ranch are neighboring neighborhoods that are located in the city of Pearland while being zoned to Alvin ISD, we believe that we have shared community values. In the past, Southern Trails and Shadow Creek Ranch have been considered as one unit because of our unique commonality, and we would like for this to continue.

2. Current Demographics: Southern Trails is a relatively small neighborhood that makes up a small fraction of the Pearland portion of Alvin ISD. We are made up entirely of single-family homes. Despite our smallsize, we represent a sizeable tax base for the district. Southern Trails is about 80% complete, and we will be fully built out within 2 years. As such, we are at stable and defined limits.

3. Future Growth: Alvin ISD's Fall 2013 Demographics Study shows the future growth will occur south of County Road 59. If we get zoned south of County Road 59 to schools in Manvel, we certainly face more frequent rezoning as growth occurs in that area. Therefore, County Road 59 represents a sensible boundary line with respect to Southern Trails for this and future rezoning plans.
