We let in students from China and India who work, refugees many of whom never work and this European with a property and a Son has to leave. Sometimes the mind boggles at the stupidity of the system.

You'd be a damn sight better off letting these contributors stay than the non-English speaking immigrants flooding through our open borders.

We need her and her family here! Come on nz they are a great contributor to the Tasman community and we'd be silly to let her go

As a New Zealander living long-term in Germany who doesn't fit in the boxes either I deeply sympathise with Silke and her family's situation. When you find a place you fit into, it is normal to diversify, to create and widen one's input into the community, and to continue to deploy all of your skills in an ever varying, ever richer pattern. Unlike me, she has been able to invest in property in New Zealand, and has subsequently improved the value of the site by targeting a niche product market. This is the kind of entrepreneurial resourcefulness and spirit which New Zealand needs, and also likes to think of as part of its fundamental character. I strongly advocate for these people being able to remain and further contribute to community

Sea buckthorn may not be a well known plant in NZ but has potential as a a high value ingredient and NZ would be foolish to throw this couple out.
