Final supporters
The Village of West City Board Member has decided to cease the first responder program from the West City Fire Department as of May 31, 2018 at midnight. They are deeming it necessary due to higher payroll and higher call volume. The fire department stands behind this program and it is at no charge to the patients that are treated. All first responders within the fire department respond to these calls for no pay from the Firefighter Payroll. All medical supplies used on these calls are replenished through Abbott EMS, so there is no cost for supplies and restock. The only thing the village is responsible for is liability while responding to these calls and fuel that used by the responding apparatus. We are asking for your support in keeping the program going. With your signature, you can show your support and potentially help save a life in time of need.

We hit one hundred signatures and the West City Board still refuses to listen to our demands. These bureaucrats are gambling with our safety over a few gallons of fuel while our volunteers are ready to act for free.

Who wouldn't sign this? I think it's ridiculous that this is even up for debate, especially since most of the cost is supplied by others and volunteered. The board member needs to move on to another job. I applaud the W.C.F.D. for their efforts in everything they do as my dad , Dwyght Roberson, spent many years himself saving lives in West city.
It would be crazy to not have rescue in West City. If I were in Wal-Mart and my father had a sudden medical emergency what a note that help will be delayed because a village (with hand over fist revenue) didn't want to pay for rescue services.
First responders are a vital asset to a community. Cost should not be an issue when it comes to lives of our local citizens. If there is a lack of funds to pay for the first responder program, than other means should be made to provide the necessary funds to continue. I strongly urge the council men and women to reconsider this plan for canceling the first responder program.
These programs are vital in increasing patient survival rates. Statistics have proven an increase in patient survival rates and the need for First Responders to aid Paramedics in rural EMS. Rural EMS is not the typical or ideal environment. We need each other.
While I do not live in west city. I am a volunteer firefighter and a full time emt for williamson county. Their importance of first responders in a community is crucial to the citizens and us medics for pre hospital care. We always can not get there very fast depending on where the ambulance is coming from and we rely on these first responders to get to the scene and treat the patients.
What kind of brainless individual wants to get rid of "free" service that helps hundreds per year?
Clearly, the people wanting to do away with the first responders have never been in a crisis situation with a loved one. I can tell you from personal experience that there is nothing more frightening that makes you feel more helpless than when someone you love has a medical emergency! Time stops and you forget to breath and then you hear the sirens and you know someone with knowledge and skills is almost there to help you! It is priceless West City! Do the right thing and continue this program!

I believe that West City fire department should keep it going. Its good training experience for them and its helping save lives and the only thing the city is paying for is the fuel. So it should stay
