The CCC should recognize the urgency to plan for sea level rise now, protecting vulnerable areas and moving critical infrastructure.

The real problem is that these thin wall casks cannot be moved without breaking them and releasing dangerous highly-radioactive materials. Store it in thick-walled moveable casks on higher ground NOW!

The recen damage to slopes in San Clemente and the resulting disruption of train service to San Diego from Orange County should be warning signs that something needs to be don soon.

Sea level rise is happening -- and storms are intensifying -- faster than expected when SONGS's Coastal Development Permit was issued in 2020. Due to the lengthy process for relocating spent fuel, the risks of sea level rise and storm action must be re-evaluated promptly -- not 11 years from now.

This is a no-brainer.

This is common sense. Climate change is real and sea levels are rising. There needs to be a plan now.

Move it away to an unpopulated area

I'm trying to stay in the present; but the past is haunting. Alex Bay commented 3.5 years ago that this situation is direct violation of the CC's original agreement. But many who saw that original agreement couldn't accept that it would actually be carried out. Nobody who loves California or this world would have agreed to it. So, as the oldest real native-born Californian in the room, I petition all with power to make the necessary correction to a huge case of apathy on the part of these deciders. Correct the ISFISI at SONGS. Be it pool or hot cell (very expensive), move the stuff off the beach. In view of what happened at Fukushima/Daiichi, waiting any longer simply augments the present madness. ¡¡ REAL climate solutions are NOT radioactive!

This is the worst place to store spent nuclear fuel! By rising seas an earthquake zone and a military facility not to mention a city full of people!
