Its not about a bunch of "debbie downers" trying to keep our neighbors from "having a good time"- Please, have your fun, keep the event, but just NOT in a public PARK!! not where kids play soccer, families fly kites, we go for canoes rides on the lake, where people walk their dogs, where there's horseshoes and picnics. This is NOT an event for a family designated area. To those comparing it with the adult-only swim: That was for ADULTS ONLY. Tickets required. At night. This is an open, public, family park- In the MIDDLE OF THE DAY. Seriously. Have your fun, people- but do it somewhere else. Please.

What kind of community do we live in? Let the HOA gripe about your trash cans to far from your fence or your weeds to tall but this means nothing. I see where the HOA priorities lye.

There has to be a better and more supervised venue than this. This is a family community and this is definitely not a family friendly event.

I have been a resident of Providence Village for nearly 7 years and this event is appalling to me on so many levels. What are we trying to promote with this event? That drinking is a "sport" and is acceptable in the community? We don't allow alcohol at the pools, but this event is okay and sanctioned/approved by the HOA? With the amount of alcohol related accidents and deaths in the news I would think that the community wouldn't host an event that promotes drinking alcohol as a game! Is someone going to be checking IDs/monitoring consumption or is everyone in attendance going to be walking to this event? Probably not, so then are you going to have Desinated Drivers for all the participates or will the Denton County Sheriff be passing out DWI/DUI or PI citations as applicable? This event is not to character of the community of Providence Village and the family friendly oriented atmosphere that it advertises!

I'm concerned this event will encourage irresponsible drinking. Doesn't seem very family friendly to me. With alcohol involved, it seems the "party" could easily get out of hand. Would anybody be surprised if fights broke out, someone drove home drunk, property was damaged? I'm just surprised Providence Village wants to be associated with something like this.

This is just not acceptable, how is this something that should be concidered an appropriate event in a public setting, let alone a family environment a neighborhood. I would strongly recommend that the leaders of this community take on the leadership role by making an appropriate decision to not allow this to happen. I'm sure there are many more appropriate locations for this type of event.

I can't believe this is even being considered as an HOA approved event. You are combining alcohol and games in a public place. You are basically telling all the youth that walk by, or hear about it, or unfortunately are taken by their parents to watch that drinking is super fun! I am not opposed to people holding this event in their home or some other private location. But please don't hold it in my backyard where my children play. I moved here because this neighborhood is a family friendly place where I am excited to raise my kids. Holding this event will completely contradict my reasons for moving here. Please do it somewhere else.

I understand from previous participants that the drinking was "under control", but it is only a matter of time before it is no longer under control. Let's keep our neighborhood family friendly with events that promote "family". Thank you.

A "Beer Olympics" type drinking event is not appropriate for for our family-friendly community -- and especially with any implied support or information distribution from the PV HOA. Any type of organized activities using PV facilities should go through the established approval processes in place. Any drinking type event involving alcohol should not be in an area frequenting by minors, and should only be help at private residence -- and then, in accordance with Denton Country laws ... and subject to the justified complaints of neighbors for excessive noise, parking, number of persons, etc. (The unfortunate events that happened in McKinney recently and went viral tarnishing McKinney's community reputation is a perfect parallel to why unsanctioned parties at the commonly-shared HOA facilities should not be allowed.) Thanks for you time and thoughtful consideration of the issues and concerns being expressed.
