The University finally came to their senses and renewed Professor Wender's contract. Our pressure forced them to acknowledge that they cannot just discard our best educators. We won this round but we remain vigilant to ensure they stop playing games with our education.

Final supporters
It has come to our attention that the Sociology/LSJ department at the University of Washington Seattle campus has chosen to not renew Professor Jonathan Wender's contract for the upcoming school year. This comes as an extreme shock to all of us and we are deeply disappointed by the Department's decision. Professor Wender has proven himself to be an excellent educator and a beloved professor amongst LSJ and Sociology students. His stimulating courses as well as his passionate, enthusiastic and down to earth teaching are just a few of the reasons why he remains many LSJ students' favorite professor. It honestly baffles all of us as to how the University could release a professor with as much energy and genuine care for his students as Professor Wender. Please take a moment to help keep the quality of education at UW excellent and stand with us to keep Professor Wender at UW.

A stimulating, thought-provoking professor. Two years later and I still remember all that he taught me - a rarity considering all that I learned in economics is out the window. Other students deserve the same thought-provoking, quality education!
Professor Wender was by far my favorite professor at UW. He was more than willing to write me letters of recommendation and even my letters for my law school applications. Losing him as a professor at UW would be a serious loss for the university.
Professor Wender is undoubtable one of the best professors at UW. He provides students with an alternative viewpoint that comes from his previous experience as a police officer. His perspective forces students to actually THINK, something that is quite difficult to come by.
Best professor ever. It was a coincidence that I had his drug and addiction class when my father passed away from alcohol abuse. With out his teaching I would've dropped out and never understood why my father choose to end his life slowly with a bottle. SMH UW.
Professor Wender is an AMAZING professor and has inspired me more than any professor or teacher ever has. If I hadn't taken Soc 110 with him as a freshman, I probably would not be a Sociology major/lsj minor today. Please don't let him go!!
Best professor I've had at UW hands down. His experience and passion is needed at UW and I think he will be sorely missed.

He is one of my favorite professors at UW! A huge mistake to remove him from the faculty. His passion, outside knowledge after working as a cop for decades, and his genuine interest in students learning are only a few of the reasons he should be kept on.
