I faithfully supported the polka shows on WMUA for years because I enjoy and look forward to listening to them! I am in Florida - I listen on the internet. I grew up with this music and I know the dedication of the people hosting the programs. Why would the station take my money - then cancel the show? I paid for these shows - and expect to be able to listen to them!

My parents listened to this show when I was growing up. I have been a loyal listener and contributor and my adult children listen even though they are not in the valley anymore. Polka music is happy music and in this day and age who couldn't use a little more happiness. Please reconsider your decision to curtail this show as it has been a staple in our house for 3 generations.

It seems to me that there could be a compromise that works for everyone. I know that college students don't want to be up at 5am on a saturday or sunday. Maybe the University administration could reconsider how much the Polka shows have added to the station over the years. I understand the radio station should be run by the students but community radio is just as important. I hope Umass reconsiders this decision.

If you are going to reduce the amount of polka programming, make sure you find a way to replace the amount raised each year during your fund raising weekend. If not, keep your current programming. It seems odd that a donation funded radio station would want to lose that revenue.

Keep these programs going. It is not only a special part of culture, fundraising, and quality entertainment, but also a huge part of life for so many. Also, many older folks who listen can't sign this petition because they do not have a computer...please reflect that in consideration of this petition that the support is exponentially higher.

Even though I live in Chicago I listen to the shows as often as I can and even donated money to this station in the past. Please continue to keep the 12 hour block of Polkas on weekends.

Please Keep the polkas times as it is! Do NOT change the times. I originally pulled up WMUA on the internet for my elderly disabled father. Every Week-end, as soon as I got up, it went on. My dad was so happy. He was reliving his youth. It provided him with much enjoyment. His feet were tapping in time with the music; trying to dance in his walker. This seemed to allow him to open up and share his life stores with me; something I will never forget. After he passed, I continued with the tradition. Week-end Polkas have helped me re-establish my connection with my heritage, in addition to providing a link to my Dad. I feel closer to him when I have the Polkas on. Please Keep things the way they are. There are many people in the community who benefit from listening to this music.

After receiving all those donations on the Polkathon, you decide to eliminate many hours of polka music. What a disgrace to the Polish people. Give them back their hours on the radio.

It would be a great loss to your station to take away our Polish programs. I urged you to reconsider your decision, before you hurt so many followers of your Polish programming .

Please keep polkas on the air as they are an important part of my heritage and I for one would like to have the alloted time to be. Like it was with no changes as the station is trying to give to polka show less time. Not right in my opinion.
