I don't understand why everyone is giving in to removing the statues. These people only want control, please do not allow them to control this. Leave the statue alone if it is causing them that much pain they don't have to look at it. Leave the statue where it is. Thank you

Covington is my hometown and it has one of the most beautiful squares I have ever encountered. Obviously other think so too or we wouldn't draw so many movie & television shows to our area over these many years. The preservation of old homes, statue and buildings is like walking into a museum of southern history. So many southern towns were destroyed during the Civil War and Covington was very fortunate to be spared that. Why on earth would anyone attempt to destroy the things that make our town unique and special.

I wholeheartedly disagree with the removal of any monument. This is not going to accomplish anything other than to hide our history from future generations.

Leave it alone. It is history.

Don’t take away the history on Newton County. If you cave in to all the removing of history, I will not go on the square and I will take my money elsewhere.

Let the residents of Newton County decide, put it on the ballot.

Why not add a statue of Harriet Tubman and leave the Civil War statue. Let's teach our children about all history, not erase it.

History is history and needs to be taught to avoid the same mistakes..

Historical not racist. If you remove your history you’re doomed to repeat it.
