Our statues represent VALOR in men of exceptional character
They united with those of the north to UNITE These United States
Tearing them down is some deluded effort to keep fighting a war that was SETTLED by those same men we exonerate for that good character and nothing else
We have a severe shortage of such men in our day as so many think removing history solves anything
America is built on the valor of men since our Country’s inception and is established on liberty and freedom, but many are giving in to a Marxist mentality and that’s really the only thing wrong in our day

By removing this it would destroy my family history and what they fought for right or wrong.

This is a statue that commemorates the men that left their families, their farms, and their livelihoods in order to defend and protect all of these things against an invading force. It is so easy for people to be oblivious to what was going on at the time. A force from the north was marching south, and burning everything in their path. They ended up besieging and burning Atlanta on their way through Covington on their way to Savannah (burning towns and farms along the way). In the face of all of this, brave men and women stood up to this invading force to protect their families and their livelihood, and many of them paid the ultimate sacrifice. One of those men was my great, great, great grandfather, William Avery. There was no surrender. Their was no compromise. He fought and died in the Battle of Atlanta. The statue in the Covington Square is for him, and for all those that chose to fight. May God bless their souls.

This is HISTORY!! Use it to teach if you have a problem with it. There are some monuments I don't care for but I'm not crying about it. I've learned to look the other way if I don't like something. More people should try that! One group should not be able to decide ALL of the monuments but that's exactly what is happening. Why don't you keep the ones you like and I'll keep keep the ones I like. Fair is fair...js

No one had aproblem with this statue for 100 years until resantly .Why now .To many yankees moved into our area . They should not have a say .If you don't like something don't look .
If I don't like a food I don't tell everyone not to eat it .
If I move to anouther state I don't expect them to change for me .The whole country has turned into a bunch of winning pansies !
