I know Mr Benger to be a kind, warm, professional, loving family man who loves his job. I'm personally very shocked that anyone would have a bad word to say about him to put him into disrepute. He is a fantastic lock keeper and an asset to anyone who is lucky enough to hold him as an employee. I hope that the outcome of this petition is reflective of his actual character.

Tim is one of Allington's greatest attributes, welcoming, professional and excellent at his job. It would be extremely disappointing if this decision is not overturned and would definitely be detrimental to the local community.

I have always found Tim to be friendly, professional, knowledgeable and helpful from our very first trip going tidal through the lock. Always a smile and a welcome back. Lovely man.

I am absolutely amazed at the decision of the Environment Agency to dismiss Mr Benger. I have the utmost respect for this Royal Navy veteran and experienced seafarer. I do recall him being presented with an award for single-handedly saving the lives of many boat residents on the Medway by his quick thinking when the lock gates got stuck open. Had it not been for Tim Benger that evening there would have been a massive embarrassment to the Environment Agency. Shame on you EA for your short memory as to the feat of this individual. I really hope the national press have a field day with you. Shocking behaviour from a government agency. I am appalled!!!

Tim has always been a friendly, professional, and helpful member of the EA team at Allington lock, he will be sadly missed by the boating community and public alike.
