Keep Monmouthshire leisure centres and museums under public control

Once these assets are controlled by a private entity (even if nominally not for profit) then proper scrutiny by the public, elected officials and council staff will be hampered due to commercial confidentiality. Why is it too much responsibility and effort for our current local council leadership and our elected officials to continue operating and management public services as they are supposed to instead of handing the job to someone else?

Education and the right to exercise in a safe environment should be a right for everyone, not just for the people with money.

The proposed transfer would be a disaster

I appreciate the enormous pressure on LAs, being a former employee myself. However, it Is very short term thinking to let these assets be transferred from public ownership. Leisure and other services play a vital role in local health and well being, ensuring access for all

Museums in particular must be a public asset, they cannot be considered to be a profit making business.

I believe that community based venues & services should be owned & maintained by local councils.

Buildings need to be for all, access for all. Not privatised so that there's a risk that buildings can sell off for profit.

Theses assets need to remain available and accessible to all in the community.

These need to stay within council control.

No to privatisation by stealth! Leisure centres are a public good and should never be run for someone else's profit!
