Mask mandate and mandatory vaccine. The opinions of a few should not put at risk young children and their vulnerable family members.

I was extremely disappointed and saddened to go to meet my child’s new teacher and see that 98% of adults and children were maskless indoors. Even our new teacher was not wearing a mask. I have grave concerns over the safety of all students in the school district, especially those with disabilities and health conditions that cannot wear masks. Do what’s right for our children’s health & safety and require masks for all!

Until all kids can be vaccinated the risk of even one child being victimized by This virus is criminal.

My grandson will wear mask regardless. He's too young for a shot and he has respiratory problems. Kids carry germs to one another. I just don't understand all the fuss. Those that refuse should go to bottom of the list for treatment. They put so many people at risk believing that they are untouchable

I don't understand why a simple action to try and curb the situation is so political.

I agree 100% the mask mandate was discontinued too quickly. If the CDC if stating this why isn’t WLCSD following it? I emailed them also on this issue & said they would follow the guide lines of the OCHD. They say safety of students & staff is such a big concern, if that were true they would mandate the masks in all the schools. I work at St. Joes & COVID cases are rising daily. They will regret their decision once school starts & it’s spreading like wildfire. Oh oops we were wrong, well too late, then we’re back to online learning, which was terrible last year for everyone. Don’t mean to go on & on but you get it. Thanks for organizing this, nice to know there are other concerned & intelligent people in the world! Kate

Masks are the single most effect way to stop the spread of this virus. With so many of our children not vaccinated, and with the Delta variant being transmitted at an increasing rate among them, masks are imperative for the health and safety of our community.

Certainly feel that all unvaccinated children should be masked. Would like to see a mandate/requirement for staff to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

I demand that Walled Lake use their expertise in education to be informed and logical about covid science and the need to implement stringent protective measures, including universal masking!

Masks have been shown to be effective and should be worn inside until vaccines are available for all.

Mandate mask use for inside busses and school buildings.

We just moved to WL and are hoping to start the year right. I think masks should be required until at least the vaccine is available for all age groups. Wearing masks won’t be as effective if everyone isn’t doing it, so making them optional only benefits those who don’t want there kids to wear one. A lack of masks will likely cause an increase in cases which could force everyone away from F2F learning.

We all agree we want these kids learning in person - let's be proactive and set ourselves up for success this year!
