Did you know that despite being < 1 mile away, our neighborhood's elementary students are being redistricted across town to the Hastings School? 612 students, including 132 from the Fiske community, are being moved to increase the Hastings school population by 184.

We are very concerned about this redistricting for many reasons, including:

- The high number of students impacted - 612 students will have to deal with the social/emotional impact of changing schools

- Reduced walkability / bikeability for our students, increasing the need to drive or take the bus. Walking/biking reduces environmental impact, increases street safety, and provides for a healthier lifestyle. It also increases student confidence and independence.

- Increased congestion and traffic as many more students will need to traverse Mass Ave, Lex Center, East Lexington, and likely resulting in significantly longer morning commutes for those going to work or school, in addition to ped/car accidents.

This plan is scheduled to go to vote on November 5. Please sign our petition to keep our Fiske community, and others like ours, together.
