A more reasonable notice time is appropriate. 30 days is not enough!

Seems very unfair to replace a person who has done such an excellent job.

Every time I visit Julian with my kids we spend time at Jess Martin Park. It's obvious that Chris Gardner has not only maintained the park in the highest regard, he is a consistent, friendly and welcoming host to me and my family. We like that! Keep Chris!

From the San Diego Parks website: (Human Resources - County of San Diego)
Our Mission
'We are committed to provide and retain a skilled, adaptable, and diverse workforce for County departments so they may deliver superior services to the residents and visitors of the County of San Diego.'
By your admission, as noted in your mission statement, 'We are committed to provide and retain." That's all the community is asking for, that you stay true to your mission statement. As so many community members have pointed out, "Chris Gardener is not replaceable." Another 'park host' simply won't do. How can you replace the 6 plus years of service Chris as proudly served Jess Martin Park and our community? You can't! So don't!

CHRIS is available most of the time at the park. He is the only park caretaker when the full time staff is on days off.

I don't understand how after all these years they can just throw you out. WHERE is the loyalty to all your hard work.

If it ain't broke,.... don't fix it. Sometimes leaving things the way they are accomplishes more than change.

Each time I have visited Jess Martin Park, I have been impressed with its cleanliness. I have always felt welcome and comfortable in this tranquil Julian setting. All of this is due to Chris, the park volunteer who goes out of his way to keep the park clean and to warmly welcome visitors. He takes personal pride in this park and does all he can to make it a nice place to visit. Please allow Chris and his wife to stay at Jess Martin Park.

Chris Gardner is the heart and soul of Jess Martin Park. Nothing makes him happier than to see visitors enjoying themselves. He is a Host in the true sense of the word, always making us feel welcome, and always brimming with pride for the place he has been watching over for six years.
Why would those in charge want to disrupt such a perfect situation? Why would they want to do harm to a man who has done such a good job? Why would they terminate the one who makes Jess Martin Park a place we all enjoy?

I refer to Chris Gardner as "Ranger Chris" because he is always visible, always cordial, always caring for the needs of Jess Martin Park, but most importantly he cares about those of us who visit the park. I am a daily visitor to Jess Martin Park, walking with my dog. We exercise there because I feel safe. I know "Ranger Chris" is always there, always aware, always caring. Jess Martin Park needs Chris Gardner and it is now an opportunity for the Park administration to show their gratitude to Mr. Gardner by inviting him to continue living on the park grounds and to resume his position as a host of Jess Martin Park. Thank you .
