Keep Open the Pedestrian Crossing between Caedelyn Park and Pen y Dre

My son walks this way to school with his childminder. It would be a very long way around if crossing was closed. He would start the day even more tired as he has a kidney condition

I regularly use this crossing and feel it is safer than crossing a busy road. The trains are very visible, they travel slowly and always sound the horn. There are only two trains an hour and none in a Sunday. It would mean a significant detour along manor way for us to get to the park.

Lived over 50 years across the road did,not know of an accident

This crossing is too well established for it to be removed.

I use this crossing on a daily basis to take the dogs for a walk. I also used it when I was in school as it was the quickest route.

A much used crossing that, if closed, would cause inconvenience to many people & therefore should remain open!

The crossing is a useful route for many local residents. The railway line is very quiet, and any safety concerns should be addressed with ample signage, warnings and hedge trimmings rather than outright closure of the crossing.

Essential for me to walk to and from work each day. Surely this is not one of the busiest lines in the country. The distance between the stations does not allow trains to attain high speeds, so surely there is less risk here. The small playground would become would not be accessed by most of its users. Simply keep foliage cut and limit train speeds. The light installed has been a huge help.

There isn't an alternative for people with poor mobility. It's worked perfectly fine for years, What's not broken etc.

I use this with my bike twice a day. Surely it will cost more to remove than to leave as is. Senseless unnecessary alteration.

This must be kept open. It's a very safe crossing.

This is a safe pedestrian crossing and very useful for people in Curlew Close to walk to Rhiwbina and for Rhiwbina people to access Caedelyn park. In this day and age when all political parties and other bodies are urging people to walk this proposed decision is very short sighted. It will cause great hardship to access Whitchurch train station if one is unsure on very steep steps.

This is a well used crossing enabling direct access to the park, other level access requires a huge detour round the park. Trains travel slowly and are highly visible along this straight section of track.

Keep people out of cars and on their feet. Essential this crossing is kept open.

I have lived in Rhiwbina for 17 years and use this footpath often to access the park. Most recently following knee surgery when I couldn't physically manage the bridge at Rhiwbina station or the incline of the path off Heol y Deri.

Totally mad to think about closing it (? Because it's dangerous??) Aren't roads dangerous if young people step on them? We can't go about closing everything because it's potentially dangerous. Compare 100s of cars going through Rhiwbina every hour to only TWO trains. Or maybe road closures are next?? Totally mad. Young people know what they're doing, they like the thrill. they'll find something else instead, then what will you do? Besides, closing it would cause a lot of longer journeys for people or cause vulnerable people to walk through the park or unlit streets and that's more risky.

Would be a huge inconvenience for many people, and would lengthen certain journeys considerably. Especially for people with prams, some would have to walk to the opposite end of the park as it would be awkward to use the steps with a pushchair, again lengthening their route.

There are so many people that use it daily it would make it so much harder for many (including elderly) to access the park.
