We, the American people and honored veterans are outraged by the senseless closure of our national war memorials. We understand that many of these memorials are open 24 hours per day, seven days per week with little or no staffing and were paid for with tax payer funds.
We have a right to visit these sacred places and pay respects to those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
We are outraged that our Vets have had to "storm" their own war memorials - monuments that were already paid for with their blood, sweat and tears.
Our memorials are supposed to be places of peaceful, solemn reflection. They should not be places that our veterans have to fight to enter.
We demand that the memorials be re-opened, and that Congress introduce legislation forbidding the shutdown of these memorials during any budget disputes.

Ten thousand of you have joined this effort to keep our memorials open. I never expected this kind of response when I first typed out these words. This is truly your doing and I am just humbled to see so many people standing up for our veterans.

I have been reading your stories about what these monuments mean to your families and they are truly humbling to witness. Getting this response has been overwhelming because I never imagined so many people felt this same need to protect these sacred spaces. Please know that I am working to make sure these messages reach the offices where they belong.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many of you have stepped up to honor our veterans. We are approaching a significant milestone and I truly believe this momentum belongs entirely to the people who cared enough to sign. Please help me get this over the hump today so we can show them how many of us demand these doors stay open.

Thank you veterans, for the cost you paid for our freedom, thank you for the freedom to live in safety and pursue happiness, and for all the freedoms that we daily take for granted.

I thought smaller calsses would give the students more one on one time with the teacher?!?! but now you want to bus students accross town to crowded classrooms... what will the accomplish? nothing! less teacher/student time

Disgraceful that they block our heroes from seeing these monuments. My uncle was at Normandy and he deserves better than this petty political garbage.
