Education should not be politicised in any way. One government does one thing, and when the government changes, the next one spends time & money undoing what the previous one did. There are too many reforms, too much to-ing and fro-ing and by the end of it, the teachers are confused and the kids even more so. There can't be many children in the country who have gone through primary or secondary school under a consistent system. What education needs is for it to be independently controlled by a body that bases its decisions on research finding and best practice, not in ideology. That would bring stability to education and children would thrive (even without the need for constant testing).
