Security is essential in this day and age. Office Will has experience and knowledge of the 300+ employees here and is the best person to keep us safe.

As a employee for going on 12 years, I can honestly say that I have never felt more secure and safe at work than I have with Officer Will in my work place. He has made it a point to get to know everyone and takes our safety very, very seriously. His constant presence in the building prevented a possible tragedy when we had a small fire in one of our break rooms. He did not think twice about what he needed to do and took charge of the situation and prevented a more dangerous situation from occurring. I do not know how anyone can put a price on the safety of employees and customers. Officer Will is a member of the community and as such is a visible presence inside and outside of our building. The Sheriff's Dept has always offered only the best to Human Services and I personally feel safer with people protecting me that I have confidence in. I am concerned that a private security company will not have the same consistency and personal factor as the UC Sheriff's Dept. With all due respect, I urge you to reconsider this decision. When you travel in and out of Union County there are signs that say, "A great place to live and work." I have always believed that and hope to continue to feel that it is indeed a great place to work. Thank you for your consideration.

Deputy Will goes above and beyond what is required of his job duty. When it comes to the safety of the employees and our clients, I would rather know that I have Deputy Will Blackwell on duty than some security personnel that does not have the same rights as law enforcement. Union County employees and clients deserve more than just a professional witness (security guard) to maintain the well-being of us all. Deputy Will provides exemplary customer service to everyone. Since Union County strives on giving the best customer service possible to everyone, how about continuing to let Deputy Will Blackwell do that for the DSS/Health Department employees and clients. We already work in stressful situations and with everything that is going on around in our Country these days, I would feel safe, grateful, honored, blessed and secured to have Deputy Will continue his service here. Deputy Will knows the employees as well as the procedures that go on here day to day. It just makes sense for Deputy Will to stay. We feel safer knowing that he is here and knows what to do at any given moment or circumstance. Deputy Will does not wait for anything to happen, he is always walking and looking around checking to make sure everything and everyone is good. PLEASE keep in mind our SAFETY and try to imagine if your loved one was an employee or client here. Would you want them to be protected by security personnel that will have to WAIT for law enforcement to arrive to do anything or would you want law enforcement already here? With Deputy Will here on site, his Union County Sheriff's vehicle is out in the parking lot for everyone to see. What will the security personnel be driving to help deter anyone from doing something ill-advised?

Officer Will is an asset to this agency, our clients and most importantly, the employees. Not only does he go above and beyond during the work day, but after hours as well! There were several evenings this winter where Officer Will was making rounds for those of us still here...and as we left the building, he waited until we were safely in our vehicles before he resumed his rounds.

Please keep Officer Will. He always goes the extra mile to keep us safe. Often I have had to work late and he remains in the building and even walks out with me, especially when it is dark when I leave. He really cares about our safety. With all we see on the news about shooters and violence in the work place, it is just good to know that he cares about us all going home to our families at the end of the day.

Just last week a client comes in to the agency for services, this client had a knife in his pocket. Officer Will pulled the client to his office asked the client for the Knife (client was fussing with him about his rights to carry the knife) and Officer Will held on to the knife until clients interview was over. The client gave an Officer of the Law a hard time over his knife I can only imagine what he will do to a "Security Officer" who is not the Law. That is just one of many situations, my list can go on and on. What happens when one of the foster kids here with the social worker causes a disturbance and can't be detained because our new security are not allowed to touch anyone. When will we be asked about the situations and how an Officer of the Law was needed?

Last week a gentleman came in to apply for Food and Nutrition benefits. Officer Will during his many walks through the building noticed that this man had a knife on his side slightly hidden by his coat. Although the gentleman put up some resistance, along with other remarks, Officer Will was able to make the gentleman hand over the knife to him so that he would not take it back with him. He also notified the caseworker that was assigned to the gentleman to be cautious and to be guarded. Officer Will always goes above and beyond to ensure the safety of not only the employees of Union County Health and Human Services but he also makes sure that the community is safe. He interacts with the children to make sure that they are being obedient. He makes sure that everyone is safe going out to their cars at the end of the day. He is the best and only person for this job.

Sheriff Deputy Will has not only a passion for his job but a concern for all of us employees here at DSS that no one else has. Getting rid of him would be doing us an injustice and put us in harms way by replacing him with someone who is not allowed to act when we need them most.
