On Wednesday May 2nd,at a private party for a co-worker, Officer Cody Harris was suspended from being the Provo High School Resource Officer (SRO). Officer Cody Harris was the frog at this "Princess and the Frog" themed birthday party. He was supposed to "hop" in wearing a green hoodie and sweat pants looking like a frog. Earlier in the day the very playful comedian like Officer was joking around about wearing a green speedo to the party. When the party started Officer Harris hopped in wearing a green hoodie and a green and black speedo. After many laughs and shocked expressions from the other people in the room Officer Harris regained his pants and continued to joke about it. Every one in the room was laughing no one seemed mad. But then Provo High School's principal put a stop to the party. He ordered Officer Harris off the schools property and called the Provo City Police Department to inform the Chief of what happened at the school. Of course we, the people associated with Officer Harris and the participants of the party, agree that the Officers judgement may have been off, so to speak, but that is not grounds for terminating the Officers job at the Police Department. Officer Harris is a fun loving guy always looking for a joke. He is a good man for a prank or someone you can go talk to for help. He is personable, always smiling and ready to make someones day even if he has had a horrible day himself. Officer Harris is a very patriotic man, many have make fun of the Officer for being so patriotic. But that doesn't change who he is. He is loyal, and sincere in all that he does. Officer Harris should not be fired from the police station for wearing a speedo at a private party. If you'r not quite sure on wear you stand think about this, Its not like you don't see men in speedos at swimming pools. You don't try to turn them in for "inappropriate behavior". Why should this Officer be? He was covered more than any man at a swimming pool is. Officer Harris was wearing a hoodie after all. This petition is to make sure that Officer Harris doesn't loose his job as a Provo Police Officer.
