This proposed land swap will cause more traffic, flooding and dangerous road condititions in our village. It will destroy a large part of the green belt, which is the habitat of some of Englands most protected and endangered spieces, namely the Red Kite for one, which is affored the hiest legal protection under the Countryside and Wildlife Act of 1981. In my opinion this land swap is unworkable due to the layout of the village and narrowness of all the roads. And it will change and damage the character of our village to its loss.

This proposed land swap is not feasible,as the roads are too narrow, and any junction onto the Ridings will be downright dangerous, two cars can hardly pass in safety as it is. We already have a problem with flooding with the Ock Brook. This flooding risk will be greatly increased if this land swap goes ahead. There is also our local wildlife to be considered, as we have at least three Red Kites in the area now. There habitat is already at risk, this land swap will destroy a big part of that too. Red Kites are considered to be an endangered spieces, and are granted the highest legal protection under Schedule 1 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act of 1981. This is the first year the birds have been seen in our area, and should not be discouraged by destroying our greenbelt. I really do feel that this proposed land swap will irrevocably change the charater and layout of Ockbrook to its detriment.

Ockbrook is idyllic country village. why destroy it! Only one thing springs to mind. profiteering at the expense of the local community.

I fully agree, but I am also concerned about existing infrastructure and access to the proposed new site for the school. The Ridings is a very narrow road and the extra people and traffic going the new site will be put at an unnecessary risk. The new site is the lowest point in Ockbrook, which will impact flood risk and sewage/drainage requirements.

Erewash Borough Council state that Hopwell estates have shown 'a long-standing ambition to build on the greenbelt land'. This land swap gives them the opportunity to fulfil this ambition.

Unfortunately yes it will. The only benefit to this going ahead is that the school will get a new building. It will not be built any bigger to accommodate any more children and it will in effect destroy the heritage of the children who go there. The only person to gain anything will be the developer and his associates.

Ockbrook is a lovely village and community. Redhill school is perfect for the size of our village. Green belt land should be kept green!
