What's the point of removing the floating homes?

Fontana Lake has had houseboats as long as I can remember. While not a homeowner, I have spent many enjoyable days with friends and their kids here. This is one of the only ways left that a hard working middle class family can have a home at the lake. Let's not remove the houseboats only to have them replaced by giant developments designed for the rich who aren't even from this area and will only spend half the year in their homes. That's where this is headed. Money is the root of all evil, and it would be evil to change Fontana Lake. Period.

I urge the TVA to reconsider the 20-year sunset on floating homes. The economic impact to floating home owners, marinas and tourism is devastating.

It would be a travesty if we did away with floating houses on Norris lake. I think my child should be able to enjoy spending time on the lake the way I have throughout life. Too many memories to be made!!

I grew up in a houseboat part time and I wouldn't change a thing about it! I want my children to have the same experience!

TVA is very arrogant and typical of govt today. Many other areas support floating house living without environmental impact or harassment.

Have stronger penalties for polluters rather than removing everything. Compromise!

I grew up on the lake and gave so many fond memories. Our houseboat is a place I escape when the world is driving me crazy. It keeps me sane. My nieces and nephews love going to stay on the houseboat for the summer. I hope we can continue making memories for years to come.

I agree that there needs to be regulation to keep our lakes clean but with no motor there is no chance of fuel or oil spilling into the lake vs other vessels. And even other factory houseboats put grey water back into the lake so if anything these non-navigable vessels are more environmentally friendly.

There are far to many benefits of the floating homes that out way any risk that they may cause. Damage to any environmental vegetation or erosion is minimal and I am sure there are other options that can be explored rather than just eliminating vital vacation, and the many other uses for these homes. Thank You John M Cope

We love our float house and will abide any guidelines to be about to keep it for many many years to come! This is where our family makes some great memories.
