This year, the IUP Co-Op has denied our budget allocations for the 2014-2015 school year, meaning we cannot advertise, PRINT THE MAGAZINE, or host the launch party.

The student magazine is a not-for-profit organization that supports students' creative writing and artwork by featuring their creations in an annual publication which is printed through the Indiana Gazette. Without the budget, our magazine will exist solely online and will make NGAR's visibility lower.

This petition will be presented at the appeal for the budget denial on April 3, 2014. If you wish to support the continuation of the student magazine budget, please sign.

Thank you!

The administration is currently reviewing our appeal materials. Print is not just a format but the core of our community identity.

The momentum is incredible. This support proves just how much the magazine means to this campus.

Wait, doesn't IUP have like three fitness centers now, but it can't afford to help publish a beautiful magazine that showcases student work? Priorities!

As an alumna, I am appalled that IUP would refuse to fund something that assists in the education and betterment of its students. The internet is not a place for writers and artists. Print publishing is necessary, regardless of the ability to present works online.

If their concern is visibility, surely relegating The New Growth to a link in the basement of the IUP website would allow for far less than a properly distributed print journal.

Seeing your work in print is an experience that can change your life. It is a concrete sign that you matter, and you can change the world. As faculty members, We work so hard to achieve what this magazine does for our students. Please don't take this away from them.

My time spent with NGAR was incredibly important to me. University students need a creative outlet like this and exposure to the publishing process. This cannot be denied at any university. IUP must foster its creative writers.

Somehow seeing your creative work on-line vs in print, just doesn't have the same power and excitement.
