If those who are advocating for the union, because they claim they need a voice, had put half of that effort into working in Shared Governance or any of a multitude of opportunities they would already have that voice. They would have also united Munson Nurses instead of dividing us. That is where the power is not in bringing in a group who are out for the union not for our patients and not for our nurses. When you have to lie and bulley to get your way you loose all credibility with me and I hope the majority of Munson Nurses agree.

I could probably go on and on, but the union isn't a magic bullet that is automatically going to make everything better. The union is there to make money. There is only one GUARANTEED outcome of having a union at Munson. Do you know what that is? It is that you will pay union dues! There is nothing else that is an absolute, across-the-board guarantee.
I have never felt the negativity, and complaining, and drama that has become prevalent since union talks began. It is only increasing. In a lot of ways, I'm not sure what things will be like from now on, in general, with or without a union. I definitely do not believe that unionizing is the best option.

I strongly believe that Munson, and it's nurses/all employees, are better off without a union. I have worked in several unionized hospitals, as a traveler, and as regular staff, and I *never* felt like they were better for staff. One hospital was a university-affiliated hospital in MI. In my experience, unions cause more dissatisfaction, a pervasive sense of negativity (which everyone-staff and patients alike-are affected by), and an overall increase in drama and the "us-against-them" mentality. These same hospitals, in which the nurses DID make more money and/or have some better benefits, had increased staffing ratios, abscence of some departments/"perks" that we take for granted, and everyone seemed ultra burned out every single day. No one was happier, felt more listened to, or even that their ideas mattered that much. It became all about the union reps (which in my mind were mostly useless--just a "politician" who had no real power/authority) and hospital administration. On top of all of this, these nurses worked in hospitals with actual armed police officers, because of the inherent danger at their location. Gang bangers, violent crimes, drugs, etc were the norm. They did not have the beautiful and idyllic, sheltered environment that we are so very lucky to call home. Sure, they made more money, but AT WHAT PRICE?
I have always returned to Munson because there seriously wasn't a single hospital (that I traveled) to that matched it. I never felt that undercurrent of negativity there. I felt listened to. I felt valued. I still do. Are there things that need to change? Of course. Munson's wages do fall short, considering the price of housing in this area. That is a global issue across this area! It is not exclusive to Munson nurses, or other staff. But, in my mind, I would take less pay, over all of the other stuff, ANY DAY OF THE WEEK!

I have always loved working at Munson Medical Center. We strive for improvements when needs arise. We have a friendly environment. I don't want to lose what we have. Munson is a pretty incredible place!

I feel strongly that we have a nursing CEO who wants to improve and work to empower the nursing staff and we need to give her a chance. Among other reasons
