Hello,
Thank you for sharing your opinion. In one aspect, you are correct. Mrs. Miceli went overboard in the meeting. Her tone was harsh. However, not once did she call us lazy or worthless -- that is your summary, not her words. And despite the hurt she may have caused, you must consider to things:
(1) Mrs. Miceli has never before spoke to us as she did in that meeting.
(2) Teachers are human. They get frustrated. However, as National Honor Society members, I do not believe that we are beyond forgiveness, especially after she sincerely apologized.
(3) She was absolutely correct. The National Honor Society is a prestigious group. To be involved in it, members must have a good academic standing, they must show leadership, and they must want to serve others. The sad truth is that the majority of our members do not show those qualities. As a result, the group is going to become meaningless. Yes, she should have gone about this issue in a completely different manner, but she was right in stating that we must meet those qualities or not be a member.

Voice of Reason,
You have said very little that was reasonable. Get your facts straight. She did not say the NHS had no character but that many of the members were not demonstrating NHS characteristic traits. As our leader, she is entitled to the rights and powers of the advisory office. If she decided to take away positions, that is fully within her power. I believe people were mad about those positions and the fact that she told the truth. Her tone was fine. I was upset that a majority of our members are not pulling their weight. Let's reason shall we?
Attendance: We have more than 40 persons in our group. About half or less attended these meetings. Something is wrong don't you think? Where are the rest of these members? We are only allowed to miss two meetings.
ISPs: A majority of the members have not turned in a single thing. Meeting after meeting, Mrs. Miceli and Mr. Haskett have asked for people to turn things in. Still a majority of people have not turned their project hours in.
Authority:
Why could not Mrs. Miceli be confront personally? Aren't we supposed to be problem solvers NOT problem escalators or the cause of someone's termination. The persons' who did this I believe had no right to go above her and cause this termination. She was frustrated and I was too with the fact people are not pulling their weight. If people are not upholding the standards of the NHS then they should leave the NHS. The NHS should not be something just for a college application. One should be apart and actively engaging. If you have a problem with someone you talk with them first. Why wasn't she given that chance? Would it be reasonable to talk with the person to de-escalate the issue rather than go to a wrongful extreme. She did her job and she got punished for it. Do you seriously understand the repercussions this has on her job? If something is not done I believe she will leave INCA feeling that this was her fault when it's not. The party that came against he

Hi, thank you for your opinion. Yes, Mrs. Miceli did speak harshly, and she may have gone overboard, however, we all make mistakes. Mrs. Miceli gave a heartfelt and sincere apology, and I think that we should forgive her. There is also one more thing to remember. Mrs. Miceli gave us reminders multiple times for at least two months. She was kind, and patient. However, we, including myself, did not listen. At a certain point she did not know what else to do. She had to get our attention. Maybe she did not do it in the correct way, however, she has apologized and deserves to get a second chance. Also, this gives us a chance to step up and do what it takes to be an NHS member.
