Why are they not letting mr. Dawson stay? He was a great music teacher and I don't think there was anything wrong? Why does he have to go?

Mr Dawson was the best music teacher that new west has ever had and he really inspired all of us to do our best and to never give up. It pains the whole music program that new west is completely ignoring this. I gained so much from that class and I would not be where I am today with all the great tips he gave our class. My violin playing would not have improved this much in one year if it wasn't for him.

Mr Dawson doesn't deserve to leave new west. He is too good of a teacher. I have improved more than I ever imagined because of him.

Mr. Dawson is an undeniable asset to New West Charter School and its music program, which he in great part created with grassroots effort. Consider the sheer number of different music groups he leads - from teaching the basics of learning an instrument for the first time, to a stellar sounding jazz band. As another example of his dedication, he supported the formation of a string quartet which has provided growth for the advanced string students. It is perfectly clear from the outpouring of support from parents and students, that we do not support the decision to not have him return. As a parent, professional violinist, and educator, I would greatly appreciate Mr. Dawson staying on as the New West music teacher, and continuing to educate and inspire our children.

Mr. Dawson has developed an exceptional music program at New West, which is the best part of the school. I was part of both the Jazz Band and String Quartet; both of which he volunteered to teach. Students, including myself, would spend recess and lunch in his room, and he would always allow us to practice and was eager to help us at all times. -- Finally, Mr. Dawson leaving New West would be a TRAVISty.

Mr. Dawson has inspired me so much this year he has given me tips and suggestions. Mr. Dawson has taught us more than just how to play the notes on the page but how to interpret music in a way that I believe no one could have taught us. Please keep Mr. Dawson
