Keep MMS Start Time

CBG students at MMS go there because they are dedicated to their studies, but they are already asked to sacrifice a great deal, leaving siblings, neighborhood and elementary friends behind. So many families are already jumping through tremendous hoops to get their children to and from this program, when home schools may be within 5 minutes away. In addition, the rigorous curriculum in this program will only be made more challenging if sleep and transportation stresses are added to the mix. Please reconsider the unique position in which these students and families are placed.

I fully support this petition and sincerely hope that the CCPS School Board officials will consider the arguments made in it.

I fully support this petition. Please, please consider the very real challenge an earlier start time will have on these children with lengthy commutes.

Many students in the CBG program at Manchester have to travel up to 20 miles to the school, which already results in an earlier-than-normal commute for them. This earlier start time will put a greater burden on these commuting teens and pre-teens.

Most parents have considered current school start times and have arranged a work schedule based on those times. Besides the Pediatric Association recommendations, I haven't heard parents asking for there to be a change in school start times. I would like to know whether any school districts who have changed their school start times have seen any significant difference to justify the cost and upheaval for so many families? I believe these funds can be better utilized in other ways such as curriculum, teachers salaries, and transportation.
