The schools in Montgomery County do not have enough courts to service all the players. Also, the school system will have to hire more coaches (financially that is a wash...however, good coaches are hard to find.). As we know with basketball, the same coach can't cover the practices, nor the games for the students. Another consequence of this action will be the children. If this decision is actually implemented, some of the teams will have to shrink considerably. That is definitely not fair. The argument by other counties is conformity, not benefits to the student athletes.
We all know that the students that participate in extra curriculars perform better in school. Now the county is basically putting more kids at risk, for no measurable reason. You shouldn't penalize our successful program to conform to other counties (even if it is ALL other counties).
Please remember, we are supposed to be focused on the students more than wins and losses. MCPS ladies tennis has dominated the state title for many years. Success should not result in smaller mens and womans teams in MCPS and moving the seasons to provide a misguided sense of competition to other counties.
I was told that MCPS was borderline on several COMAR regulations. This means that we are within the rules. We do not want our children to conform due to peer pressure. Why would the MCPS athletics model that behavior?

I am on boys tennis at QO and I want to be able to have the full team and amount of boys we had this year in future years.

Keep the girl's tennis in the fall. A change to spring will create a burden for those coaches that are involved with both girl's and boy's tennis and take away opportunities for girls trying to compete for courts with boy's spring tennis.

Let's offer more opportunities to participate in high school sports. Combining boys and girls seasons will offer less.
