Cdc update November 5,2021 still recommends” Due to the circulating and highly contagious Delta variant, CDC recommends universal indoor masking by all students (age 2 and older), staff, teachers, and visitors to K-12 schools, regardless of vaccination status.” This protects the students, staff and extended families from continuing infection from Covid19. Health and safety of the children and staff should be priority #1 to keep schools functioning safely.

While we all have opinions… the opinion of non medical individuals regarding the safety of young children at school (masks/vaccines) is irrelevant. Follow CDC and overall statics. Don’t tell me cases haven’t changed in schools. My child’s school went from zero to 16 cases ( it’s actually higher than what’s reported) in a week due to no masks in the cafeteria and packing it full during lunch time.

It’s premature to unmask the kids until they can at least be FULLY vaccinated. Why can’t we just wait until the spring? We’re going into winter, when sickness spreads the most. Not a very smart or safe decision! As a parent, I don’t even feel like we have a choice. Also, now that they are crammed into one room at lunch, my son feels too uncomfortable to eat, so he just doesn’t. We need to keep these safety precautions in place to keep ALL children safe while at school!!

Please protect our children by mandating masks in all OC schools while OC is in the red and orange zones. Masks and social distancing are evidence-based strategies to reduce Covid 19 transmission. Have you all been in public? It’s over. People are done with this and you all are so scared because people aren’t thinking of your situation? Come on! Look around your own community. So we’re in the yellow one day, red the next. You won’t stop it. It’s here so live with it. Masks should have been optional this entire time. Frankly they shouldn’t have been required at all. No way do the masks provide any greater protection because they’re made from anything and everything that is not designed to actually filter air. And the “vaccine” that has been acknowledged to not work which does not prevent the spread. No kidding because this is a virus that you literally have no idea where you actually may have contracted it. You people are brainwashed and will live in fear forever. Going on 2 years and you seem fine with it while the silent majority are not. Move on!!

Let kids get vaccinated and wait for cases to come down in the community.

I agree and not to mention it’s the time of year due to weather (recess will be inside and people crowd together indoors)and holidays(large family gatherings) so I believe an extension on mandate is fair for all.

Keep mandate until at least after Christmas. Ideally until 60% of kids are vaccinated

I feel like we're coming into the worst part of the year with sickness spreading so easily and think it should continue till a couple weeks after New Year's.

I think the mask mandate should continue until the holiday break to give my child, who turned 12 today, a chance to be fully vaccinated.

Please reinstate masks for high school kids. Even Indiana had masks enforced at their high schools so that kids can stay in school. With holidays and such, this will be major exposure to their families, younger siblings, grandparents, your teachers. It’s not that hard and it’s not even the kids complaining. It is their parents making it political for them and teaching them that our own desires trump every thing including common sense. We can’t keep our families safe while our teens are in a Petri dish.

Please keep masking in place for our younger children until 2 weeks after the winter break. They need the opportunity to be vaccinated and that vaccine to offer full coverage!
